• The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) recommended launching a second round of the Small Grants Program (SGP II) in the second half of 2003 with a total budget of $600,000, offering grants up to $30,000 for projects involving at least three member countries.
• The Cooperative Research Networks (CRN) program, in its third year, has expanded from 171 to 347 involved scientists. The program consists of 14 projects with a total funding of $11 million, and it is estimated that scientists have secured an additional $20 million in complementary funds.
• The IAI has provided significant human resource development in the Americas from 1995 to the present, supporting a total of 2,145 students through various programs including ISP, CRN, and PESCA.
