LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE INTER-AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL CHANGE RESEARCH (IAI) AND THE MOUNTAIN RESEARCH INITIATIVE (MRI)

A non-legally binding Letter of Understanding signed on 10 February 2022 between the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) to collaborate on scientific research, capacity building, and the science-policy interface regarding mountain regions in the Americas.

• The IAI and MRI have agreed to explore the joint promotion and implementation of activities and projects focusing on research, capacity building, and the science-policy interface. These efforts aim to support environmental management decision-making by addressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges in the mountain regions of the Americas.
• The agreement is a non-legally binding document, and the specific requirements for any joint projects or activities will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
