Importancia del vínculo ciencia-política: el caso de la transferencia de conocimiento climático para la toma de decisiones

This research paper discusses the gap between the production of climate science and its practical application in decision-making, identifying specific barriers that hinder the effective transfer of climate knowledge to sectors such as health, energy, and agriculture.

• While climate science has advanced enough to create concrete applications for the energy, health, and agricultural sectors, the actual use of this information does not match the pace of its production or the expectations for its use.
• Several factors contribute to the disconnect between climate science and decision-making: conflicts between the immediate, local timeframes of users and the long-term (100-year), regional, or global scales of general circulation models; the difficulty users face in processing probabilistic information; and inherent uncertainties in climate perspectives caused by both gaps in scientific knowledge and the chaotic nature of the climate.
• The gap in climate knowledge transfer is also influenced by how the social relevance of science and the applications of scientific research are conceived.
