Guidelines for call for proposals Innovation Challenges May 2026

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) has issued guidelines for its May 2026 Innovation Challenges, a call for proposals seeking transformative resilience solutions from entrepreneurs and organisations in the Global South. The initiative offers selected winners up to US$50,000 in funding and a comprehensive support package including mentoring, a leadership academy, and communications assistance to scale innovations that address climate and environmental risks.

• The Innovation Challenge is structured around three thematic areas: the Resilient Agriculture Innovations for Nature (RAIN) Rural Challenge, which focuses on nature-positive food systems; the Resilience Innovation in Informality through Scaling Entrepreneurship (RISE) Urban Challenge, targeting climate resilience in informal urban settlements; and the Technology for Evolving Challenges in Humanitarian Contexts (TECH) 4 Resilience Challenge, which prioritises AI-driven solutions for humanitarian preparedness and response.
• Winning projects will receive funding of up to US$50,000 to be used for the development and implementation of their solutions over a 12-month period from January to December 2027.
• The selection process involves screening applications to create a shortlist of approximately 200, from which about 30 finalists will be chosen. Ultimately, approximately 20 winners will be selected and announced at COP31 in November 2026.
• Finalists will participate in a virtual Leadership Academy from 6-9 July 2026, and winners will attend an in-person induction workshop in the first quarter of 2027 featuring a showcase event for potential funders and partners.
• Eligibility is limited to non-profit and for-profit registered organisations and entrepreneurs operating in countries eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA) as defined by the OECD-DAC, excluding those on international sanctions lists from the UN, EU, and US OFAC.
• The program prioritises locally led innovations that specifically benefit women and youth, requiring that more than 50% of the people supported by the solution fall into these categories.
• Specific funding has been earmarked for East African countries (including Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda), South East Asian countries (including Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam) for TECH4Nature, and for-profit solutions in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.
