Climate Resilience Awards for Business 2026 Application Guide for Organizations

The Climate Resilience Awards for Business 2026, launched by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP), is an initiative to recognize and showcase business leadership in climate adaptation and resilience. The awards target organizations that can demonstrate measurable outcomes in building resilience through real-world action, moving beyond ambition to evidence-based results.

• The awards are organized into four distinct categories: Building Climate-Proof Infrastructure, Promoting Water Stewardship, Safeguarding Agriculture & Food Systems, and Protecting People First. Each category seeks projects that transform the broader systems—such as energy, water, or food—that businesses, municipalities, and communities rely upon.
• Applications are open to a wide range of business-led organizations regardless of size, sector, or geography. This includes SMEs, large corporations, multinational enterprises, financial institutions, cooperatives, and industry associations.
• The program distinguishes between two types of applicants: Resilience & Adaptation Implementers, who improve their own operations and assets, and Resilience Solution Providers, who provide the products, services, or financing that enable others to become resilient.
• To ensure fair comparison, SMEs and large corporate organizations compete in separate tracks within each award category, although solution implementers and providers are evaluated together based on demonstrated outcomes.
• Eligible projects must be beyond the concept or planning stage, demonstrate a sound business case that exceeds philanthropic or CSR activities, and address resilience or climate adaptation outcomes.
• Submissions are evaluated across seven dimensions: Business Resilience Impact (the core), Sustainability Impact (additional benefits to nature, people, or climate mitigation), Implementation and Partnership Quality, Credibility, Innovation, Scalability, and Investability.
• The guide emphasizes that strong applications must focus on quantified outcomes rather than activities. For example, instead of stating that cooling systems were installed, applicants should report the percentage reduction in heat-related downtime or improvements in delivery rates.
