Global Research and Action Network for a New Eco-Social Contract Membership Information

The Global Research and Action Network for a New Eco-Social Contract, jointly hosted by GEC and UNRISD, is a free, global alliance of researchers, policymakers, and advocates. Its mission is to define and implement a new eco-social contract that integrates climate, environmental, and social justice to enable a just transition to green and fair economies.

• The Global Research and Action Network for a New Eco-Social Contract is designed to explore the potential of a new eco-social contract to address ecological and social challenges. It serves as a collaborative space for dialogue, action, and the design of mechanisms for applying such a contract.
• The network's mission consists of three primary goals: increasing the understanding of the eco-social contract concept, defining terms to facilitate a just transition toward fair and green economies, and identifying the processes and institutions needed to integrate various justice frameworks. These frameworks include racial justice, gender equality, human rights, intergenerational justice, decent work, climate and environmental justice, and the rights of the natural world and biological and cultural diversity.
• The network is managed by a secretariat jointly hosted by the Green Economy Coalition (GEC) and the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD). It provides members with resources including an online engagement platform, joint research, webinars, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.
• Membership is free and open to individuals and organizations from the public and private sectors, civil society, social movements, and the research, advocacy, and policy-making communities. Members are expected to possess expertise in human rights or sustainable development and contribute their research, best practices, and active participation to the network.
