Minutes from the Green Economy Coalition (GEC) Steering Group meeting on July 27, 2016, following the GEC global summit in London. • The steering group approved the application of Aban Marker Kabraji, the Regional Director for IUCN-Asia, to join the GEC steering group to restore relations with IUCN and champion equity, inclusion, and environmental limits in GEC Phase 3.
• The GEC planned two events for the GGGI Green Week in Jeju: a private institutional collaboration dinner and a public seminar titled "The importance of societal demand to support successful green economy transitions: the why, what and how…", aimed at making transitions inclusive, aspirational, and fair.
• To manage growth and distribute risks more fairly—specifically addressing the fact that IIED currently carries most of the GEC's risk—the steering group agreed to pursue a 'distributed delivery model'. Under this model, different coalition partners would lead on specific themes using the GEC brand based on their expertise.
• The GEC identified a need to expand its offer to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), noting that while they currently provide skills and peers, SMEs primarily seek access to markets and investment. The group suggested considering a 'not for profit social enterprise' to make the SME offer more market-focused.
