Principles, priorities & pathways for inclusive green economies

The 'Principles, priorities & pathways for inclusive green economies' report, published by the Green Economy Coalition, presents a three-part framework designed to guide governments, businesses, and institutions toward a fast and fair economic transformation to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

• Current economic models are identified as drivers of climate change, nature damage, and social instability because they are managed in ways that encourage overconsumption.
• While various initiatives such as 'green growth', 'decarbonisation', and 'circular' economy have emerged since the 2008 financial crisis, the report warns that a fragmented approach may hinder systemic progress.
• A consensus among collaborating institutions has led to the creation of a three-part framework for economic transformation, consisting of 'Principles' to guide collective action, 'Priorities' for catalytic activities to accelerate transition, and 'Pathways' outlining the medium- to long-term process.
• The framework was developed by the 'Partners for Inclusive Green Economy', a group including the OECD, GIZ, IIED, GGGI, UN-PAGE, and other international development and environmental organizations.
