Building Back Greener

A study commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for the 2022 UNEA Ministerial Meeting and Multi-stakeholder Dialogue, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of a green recovery following COVID-19.

• The report focuses on several specific environmental and governance areas: sustainable consumption and production, resource efficiency, chemicals and waste, environmental governance, and the management and protection of ecosystems and biodiversity.
• The document asserts that countries still have the opportunity to implement policy choices that can restore biodiversity while promoting inclusive economic growth that is greener.
• The paper provides nine primary recommendations intended to ensure that the green recovery is scaled up.
