EL GCF EN RESUMEN: PROCESO DE APROBACIÓN SIMPLIFICADO (SAP)

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) established the Simplified Approval Process (SAP) to streamline the preparation, review, and approval of small-scale climate projects. To be eligible, projects must request up to 25 million USD and have negligible or null environmental and social risks. The process reduces documentation requirements and accelerates post-approval stages, with a goal that Direct Access Entities constitute at least 50% of the SAP portfolio.

Eligible activities may include early warning systems, micro-scale renewable energy, and climate-resilient agriculture.
• Projects with known 'risk factors' are ineligible for the SAP. These factors include activities that cause displacement, affect indigenous peoples, occur in protected areas or cultural heritage sites, generate waste, affect health, or have transboundary impacts.
• The GCF intends for projects from Direct Access Entities to make up at least 50% of the SAP portfolio over time.
