BimaLab West Africa

BimaLab West Africa is an initiative supported by FSD Africa and hosted by insurance regulators to create an Insurtech ecosystem. The program aims to extend insurance access to underserved communities, provide regulatory support for innovators, and bridge the protection gap. Between 2021 and 2022, the program accelerated 20 insurtechs and saw 20 solutions pitched to investors, with three winners receiving £51,000 from GIZ.

• The BimaLab program aims to develop an Insurtech ecosystem to address financial inclusion and the protection gap by fostering innovation for underserved communities and providing a supportive regulatory environment for entrepreneurs.
• During the 2021-2022 period, the program accelerated 20 insurtech companies and facilitated 20 solution pitches to corporate partners, insurance companies, and investors. Three winning insurtechs were awarded £51,000 by GIZ.
