DFI Phases I and II

• FSD Africa co-funded the incubation of the Digital Frontiers Institute (DFI) starting in 2016, leading to its formal establishment in 2018. This support helped DFI implement a 5-year plan to train over 4,000 professionals and establish a physical presence at the country level.
• DFI's activities have led to the creation of 10 registered professional country digital finance associations in Africa and the 2021 formation of the Alliance for Digital Finance Associations (ADFA), which serves as an international platform for collaboration in digital finance and financial inclusion.
• The program achieved significant scale in training and capacity building in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), including the development of 26 DFS training courses and the training of 3,546 DFS provider students. The Certified Digital Finance Practitioner Programme (CDFP) was certified by Tufts University, and institutional capacity for DFS regulation in SSA increased by 78%.
