Catalysing Climate Resilience (CCR)

The Catalysing Climate Resilience (CCR) programme, funded by the FCDO and managed by BFA Global, aims to build climate resilience for vulnerable households and businesses in Africa through a three-part strategy of seeding new solutions, accelerating promising models, and developing the broader innovation ecosystem.

• The CCR programme is structured around three integrated core components: the Triggering Exponential Climate Action (TECA) venture launcher for seeding and incubating solutions, the Catalyst Fund for accelerating growth to attract further capital, and the development of the wider innovation ecosystem for systemic impact.
• The programme has established several quantitative targets and achievements, including the support of 70 innovative climate resilience start-ups in Africa, the creation or protection of 2,164 jobs, and the mobilization of $11 million in public and private sector finance for climate resilience solutions shortly after FSD Africa funding.
• CCR emphasizes inclusivity and regional engagement, supporting 148 female entrepreneurs (40% of TECA and Catalyst Fund cohorts) and 296 African entrepreneurs (80% of cohorts). Recent activities include the April 2022 launch of TECA's first Blue Economy wave and investor roundtables in Nairobi, Lagos, and Cairo.
