Climate Finance Training Programme

The Climate Finance Training Programme, running from November 2020 to March 2025, aims to build climate finance capacity for policymakers, academia, regulators, and financial market participants in Sub-Saharan Africa through a twinning arrangement between the UK and African academic institutions.

• The programme seeks to establish a twinning arrangement between the UK and academic institutions in Kenya, East Africa, and Africa more broadly to provide climate finance training. Its goals include developing the capacity of financial sector professionals, regulators, and policymakers, creating a regional centre of excellence in green finance, unlocking public climate finance for business transformation, and increasing investments in climate-resilient projects to foster employment and economic growth.
• The Africa Climate Finance Leadership Programme has delivered training to two cohorts of 22 participants each across Africa: the first from 6th to 10th December 2021 and the second from 7th to 11th February 2022. A third cohort is scheduled for training in the final quarter of 2022.
