AquaMnara: Building resilience for aquaculture farmers

AquaMnara, supported by FSD Africa's TECA project, provides aquaculture farmers in Kisumu, Kenya, with technical support, value chain linkages, and financial facilitation to improve climate resilience and production. • The startup has launched a 'women in aquaculture' programme, supported by a $10,000 grant from TECA, to provide resources and finance to women fish farmers and overcome traditional cultural restrictions around Lake Victoria.
• AquaMnara's interventions have resulted in a 30 percent increase in production for fish farmers, a reduction in losses, the training of 160 farmers on sustainable practices, and the creation of 15 job opportunities.
• Over the next three years, AquaMnara aims to reach 2,000 fish farmers, help them increase their income by 40%, create 1,200 jobs, and improve the livelihoods of 12,000 individuals.
