• Global forest finance is severely inadequate, with current national and international funding for mitigating forest degradation averaging 2.3 billion USD per year, which is less than 1% of the estimated 460 billion USD needed annually to protect and restore forests.
• Forest governance remains weak, with at least 50% of lands and territories held by Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) not yet legally recognized.
