• In Indonesia, high deforestation rates are driven by monoculture tree plantations and extractive projects. In Central Kalimantan, approximately 83% of the area is designated for transformation into palm oil or cellulose plantations or mining concessions.
• The Bagyeli people in Cameroon have used participatory mapping to secure rights to hunt and gather within the Campo Ma’an National Park, despite threats from the expansion of industrial rubber (HEVECAM) and palm oil (SOCAPALM) plantations.
• France's dependence on timber imports contributes to the pressure on tropical forests; ATI France proposes relocalizing wood production through small-scale, sustainable local processing to reduce this dependency.
• Food sovereignty initiatives include the promotion of local ecological markets in Colombia and the creation of a native seed bank in Uruguay, where over 120 producers collaborated to distribute more than 30 ecological varieties of seeds by 2010.
• Opposition to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) has led to the prohibition of Monsanto's MON 810 maize in France, Germany, Austria, Greece, Hungary, and Luxembourg, and the suspension of Bayer's Liberty Link maize in Brazil by the Federal Court of Paraná.
