FY 08 House Appropriations for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

This briefing details the House Committee on Appropriations' reported Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill of 2008 (H.R. 2641), which proposes a significant funding increase for the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EE/RE) programs compared to both the Administration's request and previous enacted levels.

• Weatherization assistance program grants were increased by $97 million to $241 million, representing a 67% increase over the FY 2008 request. An amendment by Rep. Campbell (R-CA) to reduce this program by $101,550,000 to $144,000,000 was defeated by a vote of 107-320.
• The House did not approve the Administration's request for $7.5 million for the Asia Pacific Partnership.
