The PREPARE Act

The PREPARE Act seeks to institutionalize government-wide resilience and risk management through the codification of an interagency council and the establishment of regional coordination plans. The legislation is supported by a broad coalition of 23 cosponsors and numerous endorsing organizations spanning environmental, business, and insurance sectors.

• The PREPARE Act mandates the creation of an interagency council to facilitate the sharing of information and best practices among federal agencies, alongside a governance structure to ensure the implementation of government-wide priorities regarding resilience, preparedness, and risk management.
• The Act requires the federal government to collaborate with State and local planners to identify regional issues and implement a regional coordination plan to better align various regional efforts in resilience and risk management.
