HEALTHY NDCs SCORECARD

This document is a Twitter toolkit produced by the Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA) to support a social media campaign surrounding the release of the 'HealthyNDCs Scorecard' on July 8, 2021. The toolkit provides instructions and sample posts to encourage users to challenge governments to integrate health into their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ahead of COP 26.

• The Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA) analyzed and ranked the integration of health within 40 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), which represent the climate plans of 66 countries, including the 27 member states of the EU that submit a single joint NDC.
• The HealthyNDCs Scorecard ranks countries based on their overall climate ambition and the extent to which they have incorporated health into their climate commitments.
• According to the GCHA analysis, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Norway failed to show climate ambition or consider health in their commitments.
• The GCHA assigned high scores for the integration of health in climate commitments to Costa Rica, Senegal, Laos, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea (PNG), and Lebanon.
• The GCHA notes that approximately 50% of global emissions come from countries that had not yet publicly updated their national climate commitments prior to COP 26.
