HEALTHY NDCs SCORECARD

The Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA) developed the HealthyNDCs Scorecard to analyze and rank 40 NDCs from 66 countries, assessing how health is incorporated into climate commitments and the level of climate ambition. The document serves as a guide for a Twitter campaign to pressure governments to set ambitious emissions targets and embed health protections into their national climate plans. GCHA identifies specific countries as failing to consider health or lacking ambition, while others are praised for leadership in this area.

• The GCHA analyzed 40 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) representing 66 countries, including the EU 27, to rank them based on their climate ambition and the incorporation of health into their commitments.
• The GCHA assessment indicates that, in general, countries have not yet reached the necessary level of integration of health and climate ambition in their plans.
• Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Norway are identified as countries that fail to consider health and demonstrate a lack of climate ambition.
• Costa Rica, Senegal, Laos, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea (PNG), and Lebanon received high scores for incorporating health into their climate commitments, particularly in regions where climate change health impacts are clearly felt.
