Green Bond Fact Sheet

Kunshan Public Transport issued a CNY280m (USD42m) green Asset-Backed Security (ABS) on 29-June-2018 to fund the purchase of low carbon emission buses and fleet operations. This is the third such issuance by a Chinese bus operator, utilizing bus fare receivables as collateral.

• On 29-June-2018, Kunshan Public Transport issued a green ABS totaling CNY280m (USD42m) with a maturity date of 29-June-2021 and a tenor of 3 years. The bond was issued on China’s interbank bond market and received a green bond rating of G-1 from China Chengxin.
• The proceeds of the green ABS, which consists of three senior tranches totaling CNY260m and one subordinated tranche of CNY20m, are allocated to fleet operations and the purchase of low carbon emission buses. The deal uses bus fare receivables from over 200 routes as underlying collateral.
• This issuance represents the 3rd green ABS issued by a bus operator in China, following similar deals by Guiyang Public Transportation and Wuxi Communication Industry Group to upgrade local fleets.
