• Securing community land tenure and the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples is identified as a cost-effective mitigation strategy that reduces deforestation and improves ecosystem resilience.
• A just transition in the context of NDCs requires respecting fundamental labor rights, fostering tripartite social dialogue between governments, employers, and workers, and providing professional retraining for those in declining carbon-intensive industries.
