• The licence establishes specific maximum release rates for pollutants. For the East Flue (Boilers 1-5), PM limits are 100 mg/Nm3 (until April 2015) and 50 mg/Nm3 (from 1 April 2020), while SO2 limits are 3500 mg/Nm3 (until April 2015) and 2600 mg/Nm3 (from 1 April 2020). For the West Flue (Boilers 6-9), PM is limited to 500 mg/Nm3 (until 1 April 2025) and NOx is limited to 1300 mg/Nm3 (until April 2015) and 750 mg/Nm3 (from 1 April 2020).
• Eskom Komati Power Station was required to provide a specific and time-bound Atmospheric Emission Off-Set Plan to reduce PM pollution in the ambient/receiving environment by 31 March 2016.
• All units were required to be fitted with continuous emission monitoring equipment for PM, SO2, and NOx by 1 June 2015.
