• The station's maximum permitted raw material consumption is 820,000 tons of coal per month and 3,200 tons of fuel oil per month. The maximum design production capacity for electricity is 2000 MW, with a by-product of ash produced at a maximum permitted capacity of 290,000 tons per month.
• The licence mandates that both smoke stacks be equipped with continuous emission monitoring equipment for particulate matter (PM), sulphur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 1 June 2015.
• Eskom Hendrina Power Station is required to provide an approved, time-bound Atmospheric Emission Off-Set Plan by 31 March 2016 to reduce PM pollution in the ambient or receiving environment.
• The facility is located within the Highveld Air Pollution Priority Area (HPA), and the licence holder must maintain an official Air Quality Complaints Register and submit annual reports to the Licensing Authority within 60 days of the end of each reporting period.
