A letter from the Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) to the Minister of Water and Sanitation requesting the publication of compliance monitoring and enforcement data, following a missed commitment to release an annual report in October 2015.

• The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) argues that the Department of Water and Sanitation's failure to make compliance monitoring and enforcement data public allows companies with significant environmental impacts to conceal their poor compliance status, which negatively affects communities near industrial facilities and mines.
• During a briefing to the Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation on 2 September 2015, Ms Diedricks stated that the Department of Water and Sanitation would publish an annual report on compliance monitoring and enforcement in October 2015, but the CER notes that this report has not yet been published.
• The CER requests that the Minister of Water and Sanitation provide the anticipated publication date for the Department's first compliance monitoring and enforcement report by 31 March 2016.
