A call to action for gender-just, low-carbon economies

This statement is a call to action developed at a side event of the Women Deliver 2023 conference, convened by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). It urges governments, private sector actors, and international organisations to integrate gender equality with low-carbon development and climate resilience strategies, specifically targeting the negotiations on 'just transitions' at COP28 in Dubai.

• The document argues that climate change disproportionately affects disadvantaged people and that current global policies are insufficient, putting the world on a trajectory for 3.2 oC of average warming. It asserts that gender equality and climate action must be integrated in policy and practice to avoid 'maladaptation' and ensure that marginalised groups, including Indigenous people, access the benefits of climate action.
