Global research call - frequently asked questions

• CDKN accepts applications from a variety of entities, including universities, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations, and private sector organisations, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria. However, funding is explicitly denied for PhD studentships, the writing of books, the writing up of previous research results, and any organisations or employees part of CDKN's own management.
• The deadline for proposal submission was Monday 24th October 2011, at 17:00 British Summer Time (GMT+1). Late submissions are generally excluded to maintain fairness, although the Research Team may consider extreme extenuating circumstances if clear evidence is provided.
• Proposals are evaluated by a review panel of approximately 14-18 international experts in climate change and development, primarily consisting of academics and some development practitioners with policy experience. Final funding decisions are made in January 2012 by the CEO and senior management of CDKN, with successful applicants notified by 15th February 2012.
• All applications must be submitted in English and in Word format; PDF submissions are not accepted. Research projects are expected to commence by 1st April 2012, as they are designed to be short, time-bound projects for quick dissemination to policy makers.
