SOUTH AFRICA STRATEGY 2025

This document outlines Outcome 4 of the WWF South Africa Strategy 2025, which focuses on expanding and sustainably managing the network of conservation areas within priority land- and seascapes in South Africa.

• South Africa is a signatory to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), committing the country to protect a minimum of 17% of its land-based natural wealth and 10% of its ocean areas.
• WWF works to increase the total hectares under conservation and the percentage of protected seascapes through various conservation models and partnerships. Their activities include monitoring and assessing certain areas, contributing to the maintenance of others, and assisting private and communal landowners in managing conservation areas to supplement the capacity of conservation agencies.
• To ensure sustainable landscape financing, WWF supports the creation of incentives and innovative financial models.
