SOUTH AFRICA STRATEGY 2025

WWF South Africa aims to increase the hectares of land and seascapes under conservation to support national commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity. The organization works with mandated agencies, landowners, communities, and civil society to monitor, maintain, and manage these areas, while developing innovative financial models for sustainable landscape financing.

• South Africa is committed under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to protect a minimum of 17% of its land-based natural wealth and 10% of its ocean areas.
• WWF South Africa employs various conservation models and partnerships to increase the total hectares under conservation and the percentage of protected seascapes.
• To ensure sustainable landscape financing, WWF supports the creation of innovative incentives and financial models.
