MANUAL COMPILED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 51 of the PROMOTION OF ACCESS TO INFORMATION ACT (PAIA) (Act 2 OF 2000)

This document is a manual for The Southern African Wildlife College Trust, compiled in accordance with Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) (Act 2 of 2000). It provides guidelines, contact details, and procedures for the public to request access to records held by the Trust, which is managed by WWF South Africa.

• The Southern African Wildlife College Trust is a capital trust fund founded by WWF-SA in 2000. Its primary objective is to provide funding for education and training in nature conservation management at the Southern African Wildlife College, with broader goals to subsidise training for natural resource managers in SADC countries, reduce dependence on donors for environmental education institutions, lower costs for students and funders, and provide bursaries.
• The Trust is managed by WWF South Africa, which maintains all relevant records; the Trust itself has no employees. The Trust's auditors are PricewaterhouseCoopers based in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
• Records held by WWF-SA on behalf of the Trust are categorized into Administration & Operational Records (such as address lists, correspondence, housekeeping information, and meeting minutes) and other records pertaining to Financial Management (budgets, banking, investment statements, and auditor's reports), Governance (Trust Deed and trustee registration), and Legal and Compliance (funding agreements and Memoranda of Understanding).
• To request a record, a requester must use the prescribed form (Annexure B) and submit it to the Information Officer at WWF-SA. The request must include sufficient detail to identify the record, the form of access required, a South African postal/fax or email address, and an explanation of the right being exercised or protected.
• A request fee of R50.00 is required for all requesters except those seeking personal information about themselves. Additional access fees apply for reproduction, search, and preparation, including R1.10 per A4 photocopy, R0.75 per printed copy from electronic form, R70.00 for a compact disc, and R30.00 per hour for search and preparation.
• The Trust maintains records in accordance with several pieces of legislation: the Trust Property Control Act (Act 57 of 1988), the Income Tax Act (No 58 of 1962), the Protection of Personal Information Act (No 4 of 2013), and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (No. 25 of 2002).
