Manual in terms of PAIA and POPIA

This document is a manual compiled by WWF South Africa in accordance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It provides guidelines for the public on how to request access to records held by the organization and outlines how WWF South Africa processes personal information.

• WWF South Africa is an autonomous voluntary association registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (registration number 003226NPO) that is exempt from estate duty, donations tax, and income tax.
• The organization manages several associated trusts, including the WWF Nedbank Green Trust (founded October 1990), the National Parks Trust of South Africa (established 1986), the Southern African Wildlife College Education Trust (founded 2000), the Table Mountain Fund (established 1998), and the Leslie Hill Succulent Karoo Trust (founded 1995).
• To request access to records, requesters must use a prescribed form and submit it to the Information Officer. Non-personal requesters are required to pay a request fee of R140.00, while those seeking their own personal information are exempt from this fee.
• WWF South Africa maintains various categories of records, including administration and operational records (such as asset registers and business plans) and specialized records covering conservation, financial management, fundraising, governance, human resources, and legal compliance.
• Personal information is processed for purposes including staff administration, the administration of associated trusts, record keeping, the provision of goods and services to customers, and the fulfillment of the organization's objectives.
• The organization may transfer personal information to third parties in foreign countries if the recipient is subject to adequate protection laws, the data subject consents, or the transfer is necessary for a contract or the benefit of the data subject.
