Handleiding in terme van PAIA en POPIA

This document is a manual produced by WWF South Africa (WWF-SA) to assist individuals in requesting access to information and managing personal data in accordance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

• WWF South Africa (WWF-SA) is an independent voluntary association and non-profit organization (registration number 003226NPO) established in 1968 by Dr. Anton Rupert.
• The primary objectives of WWF-SA include the conservation of the natural environment and biodiversity, educating society on these protections, and raising funds to achieve these goals.
• WWF-SA manages several associated trusts, including the WWF Nedbank Green Trust (est. 1990), the National Parks Trust of South Africa (est. 1986), the Southern African Wildlife College Education Trust (est. 2000), the Table Mountain Fund (est. 1998), and the Leslie Hill Succulent Karoo Trust (est. 1995).
• Financial annual statements are the only category of records available from WWF-SA without a formal request under the Act.
• To request access to records, applicants must use a prescribed form (Annexure B) and submit it to the Information Officer, providing specific details about the record, the form of access required, and the right being exercised or protected.
• A request fee of R140.00 is required for non-personal requesters, while those seeking personal information about themselves are exempt from this fee. Additional costs apply for reproduction, such as R2.00 per A4 page for black and white copies.
• WWF-SA processes personal information for purposes including personnel administration, trust administration, record keeping, providing goods and services to clients, and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Personal information may be transferred to third parties in foreign countries if the recipient is subject to adequate protection laws, the data subject consents, or the transfer is necessary for the performance of a contract.
