A 2015 Government of Karnataka order granting in-principle approval for the establishment of a 2000 MW solar park in Pavagada Taluk, Tumkur District, to be developed by the Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation Ltd. (KSPDCL).

• The solar park is located on approximately 11,000 acres of land across five villages in Pavagada Taluk, Tumkur District: Balasamudra, Tirumani, Kyataganacharlu, Vallur, and Rayacharlu. The land consists of 254 acres of Government land, with the remainder being private land intended for 30-year leases on a yearly rental basis.
• The project involves a collaborative development structure where KSPDCL handles the solar park development, the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) constructs a 400 KV power grid system, and NTPC and SECI manage the solar power generation plants.
• The approval is subject to several conditions, including obtaining environmental clearances from the MoEF or the Government of Karnataka, implementing a Human Resources Development plan that prioritizes residents of the five affected villages, and providing at least one job per family for those whose land is acquired.
