The document features endorsements from executives at companies such as UPS, Alcoa, PepsiCo, S.C. Johnson, Tesco, Walmart, Kraft Foods, and the Carbon Trust regarding the utility of the GHG Protocol standards. These leaders emphasize that the new standards provide a harmonized, globally consistent methodology for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions across corporate value chains and product life cycles, which in turn informs strategic business decisions and customer education.

• The GHG Protocol Product Standard and Corporate Value Chain Standard provide businesses with a globally consistent and harmonized methodology to measure and manage emissions across product life cycles and value chains.
• The adoption of these standards allows companies to use emissions data to drive strategic business decisions, innovate products, and potentially achieve cost savings.
• The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), representing over 400 members with annual sales exceeding $3 trillion, is recommending that its members adopt the GHG Protocol Product Standard to establish common carbon and sustainability measurement systems.
• The GHG Protocol is a collaboration between the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
