Examining the Alignment between the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions and Sustainable Development Goals

This research paper examines the relationship between the Paris Agreement's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), arguing that climate actions can provide mutual benefits across a vast majority of SDG targets.

• The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2015 created a need for national governments to implement these interdependent agendas to ensure mutual reinforcement and the efficient use of resources, technology, and capacity.
• Climate actions detailed in the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) under the Paris Agreement are capable of producing mutual benefits for at least 154 out of the 169 targets established by the SDGs.
