Our Ocean Conference Commitment Implementation Progress Update: 2025 – 2026

The report tracks the status of 2,900 commitments from the Our Ocean Conference, noting that as of May 2026, 41% are complete and 41% are in progress. While $26.5 billion has been delivered through completed commitments, the paper argues that implementation urgency must increase to meet 2030 global ocean conservation goals, specifically highlighting the need to address gaps in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

• As of May 1, 2026, 41 percent of the 2,900 commitments (1,200) are reported as complete, 41 percent (1,179) are in progress, and 18 percent (521) have not started. Completed commitments represent $26.5 billion in delivered funds.
• Between 2025 and 2026, 285 new commitments were established, 174 were started, and 70 were completed, resulting in an additional $2.7 billion in delivered funds.
• While progress is described as moderate but measurable, the report asserts that implementation urgency must increase to reach 2030 global ocean conservation goals. Priorities for future action include increasing accountability, transparency, and addressing regional gaps in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa.
