5 Climate Finance Issues to Watch at Marrakech

Proposed strategies to increase this include doubling the current share of adaptation finance, doubling the total amount of adaptation finance, or implementing a 50:50 allocation between mitigation and adaptation.
• The future of the Adaptation Fund is uncertain because its commitment period under the Kyoto Protocol ends in 2020. The Fund is noted for its focus on small-scale projects and 'direct access', which allows funding to go to national institutions in developing countries without international intermediaries.
