Environmental Stories to Watch in 2005

This document consists of remarks by World Resources Institute President Jonathan Lash, delivered during a National Press Club briefing on December 21, 2004, regarding anticipated environmental issues for 2005.

• Jonathan Lash identified several key areas of focus for 2005, including global warming, ecosystems, and the intersection of poverty and the environment.
• A central question for 2005 is whether the second Bush Administration will take action on global warming, or if leadership will instead come from the business community and US city and state officials.
