Assessing 10 Years of International Commitments to Sustainable Ocean Action: A Global Stocktake of the Our Ocean Conference

The report evaluates 2,618 commitments from the Our Ocean Conference (2014-2024), totaling US$160 billion in pledged funds. As of January 2025, 43% of commitments are completed, with $133.4 billion mobilized. The majority of pledged finance (54%) is directed toward ocean-climate action. The paper recommends increasing engagement with the private sector, academia, and marginalized groups, including small island developing states and Indigenous communities.

• Between 2014 and 2024, the Our Ocean Conference generated 2,618 commitments to ocean action, representing US$160 billion in pledged funds.
• As of January 2025, 43 percent (1,130) of commitments have been completed, 38 percent (1,005) are in progress, and 18 percent (483) have not started. Total mobilized funds amount to $133.4 billion, consisting of $23.8 billion from completed commitments and $109.6 billion for those still under implementation.
• The ocean-climate nexus is the primary recipient of pledged finance, accounting for 54 percent of the total.
