Ending Tropical Deforestation: REDD+: Lessons from National and Subnational Implementation

This working paper, updated in November 2019, examines the implementation of REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation) over the last decade, focusing on lessons learned from national, subnational, and project-level initiatives to inform future forest-based climate change mitigation.

• Since its introduction over a decade ago, REDD+ has been adopted at multiple levels of governance, with more than 50 countries starting REDD+ strategies, subnational governments testing jurisdictional programs, and over 350 projects implemented on a global scale.
