A Tool for Designing Policies to Achieve India’s Climate Targets

This technical note describes the India Energy Policy Simulator (EPS-India), a System Dynamics computer model developed by Energy Innovation LLC and the World Resources Institute to help India design policy packages to meet its climate targets.

• India has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions intensity per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) by 33 to 35 percent relative to 2005 levels by the year 2030, as part of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
• The India Energy Policy Simulator (EPS-India), created by World Resources Institute and Energy Innovation LLC, is a System Dynamics computer model designed to provide quantitative analysis and estimate the effects of different policy packages to assist India in reaching its climate objectives.
