Call to action for ambitious and investible NDCs

The We Mean Business Coalition urges governments to align NDCs with a 1.5°C pathway and the Global Stocktake outcomes to provide the policy stability necessary for business investment. The call to action focuses on three pillars: setting ambitious economy-wide and sector-specific targets, developing consistent national and sectoral policy frameworks, and establishing inclusive dialogues with the private sector to co-create implementation solutions.

• The coalition urges governments, led by the G20, to implement three pillars to unlock investment: putting forward 1.5°C-aligned NDCs with economy-wide and sector-specific targets, developing clear policy frameworks with high-level political leadership, and engaging in transparent dialogue and co-creation with businesses.
• Ambitious NDCs should specifically include targets to phase out unabated fossil fuels, triple renewable energy, and double energy efficiency by 2030, while integrating with national biodiversity strategies.
• Effective implementation requires a whole-of-government approach and international coordination, particularly for the decarbonization of globally traded materials like aluminum and steel, as well as challenging sectors like agriculture.
