Global Principles on Digital Safety: Translating International Human Rights for the Digital Context

The World Economic Forum's Global Coalition for Digital Safety has established the Global Principles on Digital Safety to address the amplification of harmful content and conduct in a digital world used by over 5 billion people. These principles seek to translate human rights for the digital environment, aiming to protect vulnerable groups, including children, and foster multistakeholder alignment across regulatory, industry, and societal sectors.

• With over 5 billion internet users globally, there is an urgent need to address safety challenges regarding harmful online content and conduct, particularly to protect vulnerable populations such as children.
• The Global Principles on Digital Safety were created by the Global Coalition for Digital Safety to determine how human rights apply to the digital world and to guide regulatory, industry, and societal innovations in a rights-respecting manner.
