Message du Nouvel An 2024

The WACC President, Embert Charles, highlights a global rise in disinformation, media restrictions, and attacks on journalists, specifically noting situations in Haiti, Ukraine, and Gaza. He argues that economic crises, the climate crisis, and armed conflicts have undermined peaceful coexistence and public trust in media. To address these challenges, the WACC aims to promote communicative, digital, and gender justice to ensure communities can express their needs and hopes for a better world.

• The WACC identifies a significant increase in disinformation, restrictions on media freedom, and violence against journalists in specific conflict zones, including Haiti, Ukraine, and Gaza.
• Global stability is being undermined by a combination of economic crises, the climate crisis, global migration, and civil and armed conflicts, leading to a loss of public trust in the media.
• The WACC intends to combat these challenges by focusing on communicative justice, digital justice, and gender justice to help people and communities express their needs and concerns.
