The project follows a three-step process: first, conducting an inventory of waste streams and mapping resource demand; second, co-developing future scenarios for resource recovery and technology options with stakeholders; and third, using a tool called REVAMP (Resource Value Mapping) to estimate the economic costs and benefits of those scenarios.
- The REVAMP (Resource Value Mapping) tool, developed by SEI, is used to support the planning of urban waste and natural resource management. Its current beta version estimates the recovery potential of organic matter, nutrients, and energy from organic solid waste, faecal sludge, and sewage sludge. The project in Naivasha serves as an opportunity to refine the tool using local stakeholder input.
