INTEGRATING RIGHTS AND EQUALITY IN DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE

This briefing introduces the Framework for Integrating Rights and Equality (FIRE), a six-dimensional tool designed to help disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate resilience (CR) decision-makers integrate human rights and gender equality into laws, policies, and practices. • Ten general recommendations for emergency preparedness and response include strengthening transparency and accountability through engagement with national human rights institutions, allocating dedicated resources for rights and equality integration, and increasing coherence between different levels of governance.
