Games for Building Climate Resilience in Thailand

The 'Kin Dee You Dee' toolkit uses three sets of serious games to build climate resilience in urban low-income communities. The process moves from creating awareness of resilience concepts to mapping assets and risks, and finally developing strategic response plans. Applied in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region and Udon Thani province, the toolkit is concluded to be a useful instrument for policymakers and stakeholders to increase community engagement and disaster risk awareness.

• The 'Kin Dee You Dee' toolkit consists of three stages: first, creating awareness of resilience concepts; second, mapping individual and community assets and identifying associated risks; and third, reflecting on threats to create a strategic response plan.
• The toolkit was applied in the Udon Thani province and the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, both of which are identified as areas with high exposure to climate risks, to test its ability to enhance disaster risk awareness and community participation.
• The study concludes that the toolkit is an effective resource for stakeholders and policymakers involved in city development to engage with communities and improve their awareness of risks.
