Reserved Words

This guide lists the reserved words that cannot be used as branch, fuel, or region names in LEAP expressions and outlines the character and length requirements for naming LEAP branches.

• LEAP maintains a comprehensive list of reserved words that are prohibited for use in the names of regions, fuels, or LEAP branches because they are used within the software's expressions. These reserved words include mathematical functions (e.g., Abs, Cos, Sqrt), financial terms (e.g., InterestRate, PresentValue), and data descriptors (e.g., BaselineValue, Year).
• LEAP branch names are subject to specific formatting constraints: they must be between 2 and 50 characters long, must start with an alphabetic character, and are not case-sensitive. Permitted characters include alphanumeric characters and a specific set of symbols: |, &, ~, ", _, ., $, #, [, ], {, }.
