Co-production for Disaster Risk Reduction

This research paper proposes three principles to operationalize the political function of co-production in disaster risk reduction, aiming to center local and Indigenous knowledge.

• The paper identifies three principles to enable the political function of co-production in disaster risk reduction: ensuring knowledge plurality, surfacing norms and assumptions in knowledge production, and driving actions that address existing knowledge and broader sociopolitical structures.
• The authors' framework for re-politicized co-production is derived from firsthand experiences with local and Indigenous peoples, as well as literature from critical disaster studies, feminist political ecology, and co-production.
