Impacts of the low carbon transition on transport workers

The research uses 20 semi-structured interviews with taxi and truck drivers in Sweden to examine how decarbonization technologies affect quality of working life. While workers identify potential health and safety benefits, they express concerns regarding their professional aspirations and needs, with perceived impacts varying by age, gender, and geography.

• Transport workers perceive both positive and negative impacts from the transition; they recognize potential improvements to health and safety but worry about whether the transition will account for their professional aspirations and needs.
• The perceived impacts of the low-carbon transition on transport workers are not uniform and vary based on the individual's gender, age, and the geographic areas in which they work.
