The Scenario Explorer

The Scenario Explorer is a tool in the LEAP software that allows users to adjust 'Key Parameters' via slider bars to see immediate impacts on scenario results. It supports the creation, locking, and filtering of scenarios, and enables the interactive toggling of 'mini-scenarios' through a multiple inheritance feature to build complex climate mitigation scenarios.

• The Scenario Explorer allows users to interactively modify Key Parameters using slider bars, which are linked to specific branches, variables, and regions in a LEAP data set. When the Auto Refresh feature is enabled, LEAP automatically recalculates affected scenarios immediately upon adjustment.
• Users can manage scenarios directly within the Overviews view by right-clicking scenario names to create new scenarios based on existing ones, show or hide scenarios, or lock scenarios to prevent accidental changes to their Key Parameter values.
• The tool includes a Tags filter in the main toolbar that enables users to display a filtered subset of key parameters based on the presence of one or more specified tags using 'and' or 'or' logic.
• LEAP's multiple inheritance feature allows for the creation of complex scenarios by combining several 'mini-scenarios' (such as those focusing on building insulation or renewable energy). The Scenario Explorer's Additional Scenarios column allows users to interactively switch these components on or off.
